This is the best news I have heard in a long, long time. According to our friends at TVSquad.com, they have reported that NBC is putting all there weight behind Friday Night Lights in a late push of there currently struggling series. They have announced that they are offering up a risk free purchase of Season 1, if you don’t like the DVD, send it back to NBC and you will get a full refund. Here is what TVSquad had to say about it.
That’s right, Friday Night Lights shaves as close as a blade, or your money back.
Sorry, whenever I hear news of a refund that old electric razor commercial pops into my head. Remember that one? No? Okay, moving on:
The folks behind NBC’s Friday Night Lights are so sure you’ll love the first season DVD set coming out next Tuesday that they’re offering to refund your money if you don’t like it. In order to qualify for the refund, you have to purchase the DVD before the end of the year, and I guess you also have to hate the series.

According to Zap2It.com, they have word that Chris Mulkey will be taking on a recurring role on the second season of Friday Night Lights. Here is what Zap2It had to say about the latest casting of Friday Night Lights.
Veteran actor Chris Mulkey (”Twin Peaks,” “Broken Trail”) has joined the cast of NBC’s second-year series, a network rep confirms. He’ll have a recurring role as the new coach of the Dillon High School football team, who takes over after Coach Taylor (Kyle Chandler) moves on to the college ranks at the fictional TMU.
The new coach, who arrives from outside Dillon, brings a my-way-or-the-highway approach with him and revamps the team’s game plan. Naturally, this causes friction with some of the players, with new assistant coach Jason Street (Scott Porter) sometimes getting caught in the middle.
Mulkey is the third new face to join “Friday Night Lights” for the coming season. Glenn Morshower (”24″) and Daniella Alonso (”One Tree Hill”) will also have recurring parts as, respectively, Landry’s (Jesse Plemons) police-officer dad and a nurse who helps Matt Saracen (Zach Gilford) care for his grandmother (Louanne Stephens).
Friday Night Lights Working on Some New Plays

Critics have praised Friday Night Lights, it has been one of the most acclaimed shows by critics in recent years. However its connection with the general viewing public has not been near has successful. The LA Times has a brilliant article on what NBC is going to try and do in the second season of the show to see if it can help turn the ratings around for the show. Here is some of what the LATimes had to say about what NBC is doing to revamp the series:
“Friday Night Lights” wound up several yards short of a first down, with a complete shutout in the major Emmy categories (although it did get two nods overall). Now the series will head into a make-or-break second season minus a critical marketing component the network could have used to help draft new viewers.
The turnaround prospects couldn’t look any bleaker, but like the coach of a struggling team, the network is trying to put the best face on the situation.
“Obviously, it was a disappointment,” Erin Gough Wehrenberg, NBC’s executive vice president of current series, said of the “Friday Night Lights” Emmy scorecard. “It’s a challenge for any first-year show to get a nomination. But it certainly doesn’t change our perception of the show.”
The article continues with the changes in the upcoming season with:
NBC says it now recognizes that viewers may have gotten the wrong idea. “We’re altering the marketing message a little bit and selling elements of the show people may not have known were there,” Wehrenberg said. “We’ll work hard to get the message out that the show is not entirely about football.”
Network execs are also optimistic that moving the show to 9 p.m. Fridays this season will help it stand out from the midweek TV pack, not to mention prove a better fit with the title. The first season DVD, due for release soon, may also help drum up interest.
